When trying to understand the problem of hair fall, one might find many different explanations on what causes it and how to solve it. At the end, the sufferer is left asking- what is fact, and what is a myth?

We have developed this guide to expose the most common myths of hair fall, which will help you understand the problem better and get back on track to re-growing your hair quicker.

MYTH 1: Hair fall is abnormal
Hair fall, to a certain extent, is a normal part of your hair’s growth cycle. You may lose some hair everyday, and still, have no cause to worry. This is because while majority of your hair is in a growing phase, a minimum 10% gets into a resting phase. This hair falls out in order to make room for new hair growth.

However, if you feel that you are losing more hair than your normal amount, you should explore the cause of the problem and treat it immediately.

MYTH 2: Hair fall is inherited from your mother’s side of the family

Hair fall is polygenetic, meaning that it is determined by a random assortment of genes from both sides of the family. Hence, hereditary hair fall can be inherited from your mother OR father.

In fact, hair fall genes can skip generations, so even if your mother or father suffer from hair fall, there is a chance that you might not. The only thing you can be sure of is that if hair loss is common in any side of your family, you are at the risk of inheriting it.

MYTH 3: Hair fall is a man’s problem
This is the most common misconception about hair fall. The reality is that 1 in 4 women experience hereditary hair fall. Hormonal imbalance is believed to shorten the growth phase of the hair cycle, causing continued shrinking of the hair follicle, which produces progressively finer hair. With Livon Hair Gain Tonic for Women, the ratio of your hair’s growth phase and resting phase is normalized, and hence hair fall is controlled.

The only difference between men and women is that unlike men, women experience hair thinning on the top and crown of the scalp. This genetic hair loss in women is known as Female Pattern Hair Loss and is more common that one can imagine.

MYTH 4: Hair fall happens only to older people
Although hereditary hair loss does become more serious with age, it can start as early as the 20s and grow more severe over time. If fact, alopecia areata is a common type of hair loss that results in complete baldness in children and young adults.

When younger people feel like they can’t suffer from hair fall, it comes in the way of early detection and treatment. So remember, it is never too early to take control of your hair loss.

MYTH 5: Hair fall can be fixed by using the right shampoo
No matter what your shampoo bottle promises you, it cannot help with your hair fall. Some volumizing variants may make your hair feel thicker by adding more volume, thus giving the appearance of having more hair. However, they cannot revive hair follicles.

Products like Livon Hair Gain Tonic, however, work at the hair follicle level. It is a clinically tested formula with active root energizers that work on the hair follicle to stimulate healthy hair growth.
